Boeing-Vertol CH-46D "Sea-Knight"

Boeing-Vertol CH-46D "Sea-Knight" is being used in the US.Navy for the socalled "VERTREP" Vertical-Replenishment, eingesetzt. This way all kind of goods can be transported from ship to ship without the need that these two vessels have to by close to each other. Additional this way of delivery is significantly faster but off course only gióods up to a specific size and weight can be transferred.
The protoype of the Sea Knight had its maiden flight in April 1958 under the designation YHC-1A. Since that time this helicopter with it's distinctive dual rotors has been steadily improvised and will be in service with the US Navy far into the 21st century until being ultimately replaced by the upcoming V-22 Osprey. The Sea Knight is powered by two General Electric 58-GE-10 turbines, each producing about 1.870 hp. The helicopter is capable of lifting weights in excess of 7.000 lbs.
